PADI Career Development Center CDC Prerequisites and Requirements

To qualify for and maintain the PADI 5 Star Career Development Center

status, a 5 Star Instructor Development Center must:

1. Have been a renewed 5 Star Instructor Development Center for at least two years and have no verified PADI Quality Assurance violations within the previous 12 months and no open quality assurance inquiries in progress.

2. To apply, have trained a minimum of 60 Instructor candidates (those who have completed an IDC or OWSI Program.)

3. Have on staff two renewed, Teaching status Course Directors (one must be employed full-time) to conduct and/or coordinate all Instructor Development Courses, and other Instructor-level training.

4. Continue to meet all Dive Center , 5 Star Dive Center and 5 Star Instructor Development Center requirements.

5. Display PADI educational products and PADI course offerings in the facility, totaling an area not less than 4 square metres/30 square feet.

6. Have offered and conducted (and continue to offer and conduct) a complete career development curriculum that is at least six weeks long and includes, but is not limited to:

PADI courses – Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, IDC, and Specialty Instructor training.
Pre- and/or post-IDC instructor-level courses equivalent to at least 20 training days. These courses must include skills and knowledge relevant to retail dive store and/or dive resort employment.

7. Provide each CDC candidate with a personal set of PADI materials specific to the courses the candidate participates in.

8. Issue at least 60 instructor level certifications annually, 15 of which must be IDC / OWSI Program certificates of completion. Programs that qualify for instructor level certifications include, but are not limited to, Assistant Instructor, EFRI, Specialty Instructor and instructor-level Career Development Programs.

9. Have a course catalog outlining the six week career development curriculum offered.

10. Have in place and offer to candidates a full-time graduate placement assistance service.

Prior to the IDC there is a 2 day Prep Course to refresh your dive theory and sharpen your pool and rescue skill demonstrations. After completing the IDC Prep Course you will be ready to go into the IDC with confidence in your knowledge and skills.

Any candidate participating in an IDC Prep Course who is not then successful in the IE will be invited to join our next IDC and IE in Thailand free of charge.

FREE PADI NITROX INSTRUCTOR

Camille now includes your PADI Nitrox Instructor rating for FREE in all IDC courses and internships (this offer does not include required materials for becoming a PADI Nitrox diver / Inst. and applications fees).

In fact most of our Divemaster / IDC Candidates staying for extended periods select this option, some have even found decent rooms for less than 8000 Baht , although you would need to rent and ride a small moped (90cc) to get around which costs approximately 3500 Baht per month. For your arrival on Samui, we are pleased to provide complimentary transfer to your resort and provide information on the local area.
