The Open Water Scuba Instructor program

is your final step in the quest to become a PADI Instructor. During the IDC, you'll learn to use and adapt the PADI System of diver education to individual student needs. Comprehensive training, supported by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earns PADI Instructors respect from both students and peers. Open Water Scuba Instructors may conduct a broad range of PADI programs from Discover Scuba Diving to Divemaster.

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Course Prerequisites:

PADI Assistant Instructor certification or be an instructor in good standing with another training organization for at least six months ( check with a PADI Course Director or Camille for qualifying credentials.)
Hold a dive certification for at least six months
Have 60 logged dives that include night, deep and navigation dives
Proof of CPR training within the last 24 months
Medical clearance signed by a physician

How long will it take?

Times can vary from four days to three weeks or more, here at IDC Thailand we schedule for 5 days.

What will I do?

Knowledge development through self-study, quizzes, lectures and presentations
Confined water skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations
Open water workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations
Have at least 100 logged dives prior to entering a PADI Instructor Exam (though you can begin training with 60 logged dives).

IDC Thailand being part of a Career Development Center, we can offer the following exemption;

Special IE option for CDC's

Candidates enrolled in five pre-and/or post-IDC courses (Pre-study, EFRI, Instructor Specialties etc.) OR candidates of a six-week career development program who successfully complete an IDC, conducted by a CDC center, may attend an IE if they have been certified divers for at least six months, have logged 60 dives and are certified Assistant Instructors (the AI course is now an integrated part of the IDC).

CDC candidates who successfully complete an IE and subsequently meet the 100-logged-dive requirements will be certified as PADI Instructors when their paperwork has been processed by PADI.

IE Pass Guarantee

Prior to the IDC there is a 2 day Prep Course to refresh your dive theory and sharpen your pool and rescue skill demonstrations. After completing the IDC Prep Course you will be ready to go into the IDC with confidence in your knowledge and skills.

Any candidate participating in an IDC Prep Course who is not then successful in the IE will be invited to join our next IDC and IE in Thailand free of charge.

If you only participate in the OWSI program, the Prep course is avialable for an additional 4.000,-Baht.

FREE PADI NITROX INSTRUCTOR

Camille now includes your PADI Nitrox Instructor rating for FREE in all IDC courses and internships (this offer does not include required materials for becoming a Nitrox diver / Instructor and applications fees).

Accommodation on Samui ranges from simple moderately priced beach bungalows for 500 Baht per night with shower & fan up to medium priced Resorts with Air-con rooms with en suite toilet & bathroom priced 1200 - 2000 Baht per night.

We can help you find a self catering Bungalow for between 8000 - 12000 Baht per month, equipped with cooking facilities and living room. In fact most of our Divemaster / IDC Candidates staying for extended periods select this option, some have even found decent rooms for less than 8000 Baht , although you would need to rent and ride a small moped (90cc) to get around which costs approximately 3500 Baht per month. For your arrival on Samui, we are pleased to provide complimentary transfer to your resort and provide information on the local area.
