
PADI OPEN WATER SCUBA INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM
The Open Water Scuba Instructor program
is your final step in the quest to become a PADI Instructor. During the IDC, you'll learn to use and adapt the PADI System of diver education to individual student needs. Comprehensive training, supported by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earns PADI Instructors respect from both students and peers. Open Water Scuba Instructors may conduct a broad range of PADI programs from Discover Scuba Diving to Divemaster.

rating sets you apart from the crowd. PADI Instructors may conduct the entire range of programs - from Discover Scuba Diving through Divemaster.

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Course Prerequisites:
- Dive Leader certification - PADI Divemaster or leadership-level
certification with a recognized recreational diver training organization*
who is either:
a. an instructor member in good standing, or
b. a diver with proof of certification in diver supervision and management
including proof of rescue diving certification; 60 logged dives;
documented experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation
- Be at least 18 years old
- 60 logged dives (with experience in night, deep and navigation)
- Be a certified diver for at least 6 months
- EFR Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months
- If not a PADI Divemaster, complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skills assessment.
- Submit documentation of qualifying certifications for entry level, advanced, rescue and leadership level, as necessary
- PADI Assistant Instructor or current instructor member in good standing with a recognized recreational training organization for at least six months
How long will it take?
Times can vary from four days to three weeks or more, here at IDC Thailand we schedule for 5 days.
What will I do?
- Knowledge development through self-study, quizzes, lectures and presentations
- Confined water skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations
- Open water workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations
- Have at least 100 logged dives prior to entering a PADI Instructor Exam (though you can begin training with 60 logged dives).

IE Pass Guarantee
Prior to the IDC there is a 2 day Prep Course
to refresh your dive theory and sharpen your pool and rescue
skill demonstrations. After completing the IDC Prep Course
you will be ready to go into the IDC with confidence in your
knowledge and skills.

Any candidate participating in
an IDC Prep Course who is not then successful in the
IE will be invited to join our next IDC and IE in Thailand
free of charge.
If you only participate in the
OWSI program, the Prep course is avialable for an additional
4.000,-Baht.
