After the recent January 2020 PADI IDC it’s time for the PADI instructor specialty training on Koh Lanta.

All candidates participated in two instructor level specialty courses. Firstly the Nitrox course. Secondly the Emergency Oxygen provider course.

On top of this, Austin participated in the MSDT prep course. To clarify, he got to do five more PADI instructor level specialties.

In short, Austin participated in, firstly the Deep-, secondly the Adaptive Techniques-, thirdly the DUP-,  plus Fish ID and Self reliant instructor specialty courses.

Great choices and it allowed us to dive at the Koh Lanta top rated dive spots. Hin Daeng and Hin Muang plus Koh Haa are all on the schedule.

Here we come.

Austin wearing a blacked out mask in confined water. This is during his Adaptive Techniques course.

The dives were great, helpful, fun, and with a great learning curve. Austin and me took the catamaran over, a lovely and comfortable boat indeed. At Hin Muang missed a Manta Ray, but we still had a very good deep dive nonetheless.

We also conducted the Digital underwater photography or DUP dive that day at Koh Haa. Third dive of the day, after two deep dives. We battled some serious thermo-clines during that third dive! Certainly considered a 5mm for a moment there!

A honey comb eel at Koh Haa. They always remain very interesting and beautiful animals. well worth checking them out.

The Adaptive Techniques specialty is gaining popularity. It remains a very interesting course to teach and to participate in. We had a great pool dive, followed by an open water workshop. Great choice Austin!

That left one days worth of diving around Koh Haa. This time around we took the big slow boat. Two great dive to complete the specialty instructor training. That’s firstly the Fish ID specialty and secondly the Self reliant dive. Great diving, good fun and some very enjoyable dives later we were done. Hope this will all work out for you Austin, you took the right steps to make yourself more employable. See you around for your new instructor position!
